>It’s Not a Ferrari for Nothing

>The classic look of the Ferrari is its blazing race red color (Rosso Corsa) alongside the prominent black steed on canary yellow background topped by the Italian flag. Colors have been the essence of luxury when it comes to luxury cars. But what is the Ferrari, and how did its popularity come to be?

The Ferrari in fact began Italian Enzo Ferrari’s establishment of the Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. He didn’t exactly build the company for the purpose of selling luxury sports cars built for the road, but to simply provide sponsorship for the Modena-based amateur car racers and enthusiasts. Its founder, for a time, successfully raced drivers in Alfa Romeos until he learned of Alfa Romeo’s intent to purchase Scuderia.

This forced Enzo to inevitably carry on with Scuderia Ferrari on his own. What made this great man begin the huge Ferrari sports car empire? It was a result of the need to finance the Scuderia that he actually reluctantly sold the very first Ferrari, dubbed the 125 S, in the year 1947.

However, the force that was Ferrari did not come to be as a result of just an image of luxury and prestige, since Enzo did not desire to even begin sales of his racecars. What gave the Ferrari its niche market was its beautiful design and breakneck driving speeds.

Knowing this particularly interesting history; speed up to the present and we have the sports car giant Ferrari still holding true to its reputation of beauty and speed.

The fastest Ferrari sports car to date is the 2002 Ferrari ENZO, designed by the Pininfarina design house. The new-found speed of the Ferrari ENZO comes from the fact that every bit of the design aspect of this model serves a particular speed or aerodynamic function.

The Ferrari ENZO is a testament to its Formula 1 participation, creating a statement both on the race track and on the exotic and fast sports car lists. For one, its sleek and pointed front were designed to facilitate the airflow, helping cool the brakes and the engine during the heat of a race. The entire body’s shape is to create effective aerodynamics and reduce drag.

Beginning with the Ferrari ENZO is the option for buyers to personalize the Ferrari’s cockpit in order to best suit their taste and needs.

Enzo Ferrari built an empire on the statement of beauty and speed. With its continued patronage for these two values through the years, expect Ferrari to continue being a force to be reckoned with.

>Looking At High Def Cameras

>If you've been looking for a high definition video
camera, there are many out there for you to choose
from.  In this article, we will take a look at
some of your options available in each of the
different formats.

HDV
JVC, Sony, and Canon all produce HDV cameras of
various stripes and abilities.  The JVC HD100U
shoots 720p, offers a true 24p frame rate, and
provides a professional looking form factor, along
with sporting the ability to change out lenses.

The two popular HDV cameras from Sony include the
HDR-FX1 and the HVR-Z1U.  Both of them shoot only
1080i and provide 24p.  The XL h1 is Canon's
entry to the HDV roundup.  It provides HD SDI
output and gives you the option of interchanging
lenses.  Like Sony, it shoots 1080i without true
24p capabilities.

All of these cameras are 3CCD models and all
sport level professional XLR audio inputs, with
the exception of the HDR-FX1.  Sony also offers
single chip HDV cameras.  The consumer HC1,
which is actually a miniature version of the FX1
is an excellent camera.

DVCPRO HD
on the budget end of the Panasonic spectrum is the
AG-HVX200.  This widely hyped camera does away with
tape based HD recording and will instead record
HD to either memory cards or even an attached hard
drive.  It also offers the ability to shoot all
the above mentioned HD resolutions along with 50
and DV25.

Another popular camera for Panasonic is the Varicam
which shoots at 720p.  A great feature with this
camera is the ability to shoot at variable frame
rates, which range from 4 - 60fps at 1fps intervals.
These different frame rates will allow you to
achieve a look similar to that of over cranking a
film camera.

HDCAM
Sony couples their HDCAM cameras together under
the name CineAlta.  They cover a broad range of
prices and features, ranging from the XDCAM HD
models and the F350 to the widely used and widely
popular F950.

The XDCAM HD cameras record directly to Sony's
professional disc media, which is physically
similar to Blu-ray discs.  These cameras can also
record various quality levels of 1080i and 1080p,
along with regular SD DVCAM.  Unlike other HD
cameras from Sony, the XDCAM HD supports i-Link
for file access and DV output.

Near the high end of the Sony HD solutions is the
F900.  It captures both 1080p and 1080i at
various frame rates, including 25p and 50i.  This
is also the most expensive camera from Sony, as
it costs around 80,000$!

>Plasma and LCD – What’s the Difference?

>What will you see when you compare the same show on a plasma screen TV and a LCD TV? That depends mostly on where you watch it.

If you put the two television sets side by side in a room with light, chances are that you will not see a dramatic difference between the two pictures. However, if the light is turned off, the picture on the plasma TV will appear to be clearer and crisper. This sharper contrast and brightness in the plasma TV is due to more light being blocked from the background. On an LCD TV, some of the background lighting is not effectively blocked, which makes it look like weakened background color.

Another factor in the picture you see when comparing a plasma screen TV with an LCD TV is the angle at which you are viewing it. If you are head on, watching from the center of a room, you will have a more accurate comparison. When you view from an angle, plasma TVs tend to have the edge on the LCD models. The LCD models lose quality in brightness and contrast as you move away from their center. Plasma TVs, then, are great if you plan to put them in a room with a lot of seating options from various angles so more people can see a good picture.

When it comes down to making a decision between choosing a plasma screen TV or an LCD screen TV, the truth is that it is simply a matter of personal taste. Both kinds of television sets have the same approximate life span, about 25 years if the television is watched six hours a day or less. Both even pull the same amount of electricity on which to operate. At one time, this was not the case. In the beginning days of plasma TVs, those models required more power to run them. Advanced technology has evened out that issue over the past few years.

The big advantage that the plasma screen TVs have over the LCD TVs is size. Most plasma TVs are two to five inches thick. The LCD TVs are much thicker. Because of the flat, thin nature of the plasma television, the owner of a plasma TV can choose to wall mount the television. It becomes more of a piece of art than a mere entertainment accessory!

>Plasma Flat Screen Television

>The plasma flat screen television was invented in the 1960s, and although it made a brief appearance in the market in the 70s, it did not quite catch on. Nowadays, the plasma flat screen television is defining what a home theatre should be, and most people who pride themselves on having a fine home theatre own a plasma flat screen television along with other high-tech innovations, such as surround sound speakers. The plasma flat screen television truly gives one the feeling of sitting in the cinema, and, if mounted on the wall, it can save a lot of space. Although the price was once out of the range of the average consumers, plasma flat screen televisions are slowly moving into the range of affordability.

A plasma flat screen television uses technology that is quite different from the typical cathode ray television. Neon and Xenon gases move between two flat panel glasses. These are inert gases and are not dangerous. The result is amazing color; the typical plasma flat screen television produces 16 million unique colors and provides great contrast between dark and light. The screen has a “perfect black” that gives it a cinematic feel. Although the plasma flat screen television is much larger than the conventional television, with all of its devices, it is usually no more than four inches thick. This allows one to install a plasma flat screen television on the wall to save space.

Although the cost of a plasma flat screen television keeps decreasing, you should take into account the amount of power these televisions can use when you figure out the cost in real terms. While there are many energy-efficient models, a larger plasma flat screen television uses a lot of electricity. However the technology of the plasma TV is being developed and improved constantly, and, before long, using a plasma TV will conserve energy.

One advantage to the plasma flat screen television is that it has a relatively long life; the typical set has 60,000 hours to half life (half-life occurs when the screen quality is reduced by half). When you purchase your plasma flat screen television, ensure that you have an excellent warrantee and that you can have it serviced for free or at a low cost.

One thing to be aware of with your plasma flat screened television is that it is quite delicate, and the slightest bump can cause problems. For instance, if a child throws a ball at the screen, hundreds of individual tubes can lose their ability to glow, and repair for this is expensive, if it is possible. It is therefore a good idea for parents to install their plasma flat screened television so that it is high enough to avoid such interference (and don’t let your kids play ball in the TV room!). There are tilt wall mounts that allow you to install your plasma flat screened television at an angle if you store it high.

Along with the plasma flat-screened television, you can purchase plasma furniture or special cabinets and stands for your plasma television. If you prefer the classic, hardwood look, there are home entertainment cabinets specially designed to hold plasma flat screened televisions along with other equipment. For a more contemporary look, you can find metallic curved stands with simple glass shelves or just a short stand to place on top of an existing cabinet or table.

An important tip to keep in mind when choosing plasma flat screened television furniture and supplies is that they should be well-tested for sturdiness, since a plasma TV cannot handle a bump, much less, a complete fall. Make sure that all surfaces and mounts are sturdy enough to hold your set or more weight, just to be on the safe side.

>Home Theater Speakers

>In a typical home theater setup, there should be six home theater speakers: two front speakers, two surround speakers, a center speaker and a subwoofer for the lowest frequency ranges. There are two ways to obtain all these speakers: buying each of them seperately, or buying a home theater speaker set.

Home Theater Speaker Sets

If you're low on budget, you should think about one of these. But remember: don't spare on speakers, they're very important. There are lots of cheap home theater speaker sets on the market, but you shouldn't buy one of them, because these are of poor quality. Usually, sets manufactured by well-know brands (Klipsch, Bose, for example) produce a decent sound. This way you'll still not spend as much as you would on separate speakers. If you're thinking about buying one of these sets, read our article on home theatres in a box.

Going One By One

So, you're serious about your future home theater, and want to spend a little more on the speakers? Buying speakers separately has many advantages: it's the best quality you can have, and another, often overlooked advantage is that you can don't have to buy the whole set at a time, so if you haven't got the money, you can still have high quality speakers in your setup.

Your front speakers should be the strongest members in your home theater speaker setup. If you have a small room, choose bookshelf speakers. Larger rooms will require larger speakers; in this case, powerful floor-standing speakers is the choice to go with.

I often hear that it is advisable to have the exact same speakers for surround and front. This is true, but it's not very practical: movie sound mixes don't use surround speakers as much as they use the front speakers. So, you can choose smaller and less-powerful speakers for your surround setup, it won't make significant differences anywhere except your wallet.

The surround and front units were good, old-fashioned hi-fi speakers used for a home theater setup. The case is different with our center speaker. It's a special speaker with unique frequency response. If it's possible, have the center speaker from the same brand as the surround and front speakers. This unit is also often overlooked, but it's very important, because this speaker is used for voices and talking in a sound mix.

The subwoofer is used to reproduce the lower frequencies. Sometimes, it's optional: the front speakers can be powerful enough to rock the house, and an additional subwoofer is not needed. However, in larger rooms, it's inevitable. Subwoofers require lots of power, and in most cases, they require their own power input (these are called "active subwoofers").

>Home Theaters Which ones should I invest in?

>Going to the theatres is fast becoming out of fashion. Thanks to the advantages offered by latest technologies like DVD and satellite, folks are turning more and more to watching movies at home. Home theatres are fast gaining popularity as a good set offers one great advantage – You can watch your old favorite movies which are still on VHS tapes, something which you really enjoy. Moreover, the sound is a lot better with “surround sound” technology and so are the latest DVD players, which offer nice quality and can copy over VCR. The video display unit, however, plays a significant role in making or spoiling your entire experience. For most of us, the display unit is just a regular television, which produces sub-acceptable to fairly good images depending on the make and model of the unit, which ultimately results in people going for High Definition.

Now let’s analyze what to look for in a good home theatre setup- Quality sound, VCR to DVD players, and possibly a new T.V. set. We shall consider all these as if the money would be spent from our own pocket and that we shall be viewing movies as much as an average family in the U.S. does, which is roughly 20 hours per week.

The Logitech Z-640 6 Speaker Surround Sound System is being offered for a competent price of only $69 U.S. – Amazon.com price. Or if you are looking for decent performance, look at the Sony HT-DDW670 Home Theater in a Box System costing approximately $179 U.S. – Amazon.com price. Both of these will produce respectable sound without burning a hole in your pocket.

Coming down to the player unit, the Panasonic DMR-ES40VS VHS/DVD Recorder is a great deal, with its performance and efficiency, at an approximate Amazon.com pricing of $210 U.S. It comes in two color sets- silver and black and perhaps the best feature of this unit is that it can convert old VHS tapes, which we all have around, to DVD readily.

And now, enter the arena of display units, with HDTV sets which are available in a broad range in pricing and styling from the flat to the curved and from the small to the gigantic 50” Samsung HL-R5067W 50" HD-Ready DLP TV, costing approximately $1500 U.S.-Amazon.com price, which is hard to turn down. But if you want your images projected across a wall, expect to shell out anywhere ranging from $1100 U.S. to several thousand dollars, and for obvious reasons, they aren’t all that popular yet. So if you own a regular sized counsel that holds the T.V., the books and records, then you might probably be going to look for something in the 32”to 38” range, and these are readily available in the market, ranging in prices from seven or eight hundred all the way up to  thousands. Choosing a fairly nice television, the SAMSUNG TX-R3080WH 30" Wide SlimFit HDTV w/ Built-In HD Tuner, costing approximately eight to nine hundred, is worth mentionable with good picture quality, excellent reputation and all.

>The Fear of Flying

>There are a few fears in life that defy logic. Fear of spiders may be one, fear of lifts is another, and perhaps a fear of flying is another. Everyday, thousands of planes take off around the world, carrying millions of passengers safely to their destination. Flying is one of the safest, if not the safest, form of travel available. It is far safer than getting in the car, yet over one third of the population still report a fear of flying.

People cite many concerns when they talk of their fear of flying. Many report a lack of confidence in the air traffic control system and fear that a simple mistake on the ground can lead to disaster in the air. Then there are fears of faults with the plane itself. Most people saw the pictures of the concord crash a few years ago and when you’re sitting on an airplane, a few feet from the massive jet engines humming steadily, it seems very hard to believe that nothing could go wrong with such a machine. In fact the very shape and appearance of airplanes does little to inspire confidence in passengers who already are having doubts about the airworthiness of the plane.

Then there are the reports and press attention of the troubles of deep vein thrombosis.

The fact of the matter however, is that flying is extremely safe. It is one of the wonders of technology that air travel, with all the multitude of potential failures, keep delivering flight after flight, on time and without a hitch. In fact, in contrast to almost all other forms of travel, air travel is becoming safer and safer every year.

The statistics speak for themselves. Do you know what the chances are of having a single fatality on a flight? Well according to the BBC, it is 1 in 16 million. And in the vast majority of accidents where there are fatalities, more than half of the other passengers survive. What this means is that even if you defy all the odds and are on one of the few unlucky flights that does crash, you are still more likely to survive than die in the accident.

However, there is one issue with air travel that the statistics don’t commend so highly. Delays, lost luggage and missing flights are still frequent issues that plague passengers. Luckily, all of these can be covered for with some good, comprehensive travel insurance.

>Airline Reservation Online Money Saving Tips

>Airline ticket rates can vary wildly for passengers on the same flight. One person can pay $250 for a seat, while the individual in the next seat may have paid $1000. There are many tactics to help your reservation resemble that of the first passenger, not the latter.

Book your flight as soon as you decide on travel plans. Airlines give discounts for reservations made at least 3 weeks in advance. The best rates often include a Saturday night stay and have travel dates during the work week.

Shop at the many online travel agents to compare the rates of many different airlines. Be sure to check at least 3 different sites, as each may have a different alotment of tickets, and service fees can also vary.

Be flexible about when you travel, since even changing the flight time on the same day can effect the reservation rate. Unpopular early morning or late evening flights tend to have lower rates. Also, try to avoid peak travel season, summer, spring break, and Christmas and New Years. The cheapest fares tend to be found during the off season and at other times when planes are filled below capacity.

If travelling to a large city, Check the fares for any nearby smaller airports, as it might be cheaper to fly into a neighboring city. Remember to allow for other costs when you considering this option, such as rental car or taxi fares. This might also extend travel time.

In some instances, splitting the trip with stopovers my bring savings. However, be sure the savings are large enough to justify the extra trouble of the stopover.

Look into booking your travel plans as a package deal. Sometimes it is possible to save money by reserving a hotel room and a rental car along with the airline ticket. If you are going on a cruise, ask the cruise company if they are affiliated with any airline.  Some credit card companies also have discount agreements with some airlines. The reverse is also true : many airlines have agreements with hotel chains and rental car companies that can save you money on other travel expenses.

When dealing with a live travel agent, ask if this is the best rate that they have available or if there are any specials offering essentially the same itinerary when you are booking your reservation.

Apply any special discount programs for which you are eligible. Students age 16 to 26 are can get special discounts, and seniors may be able to get discounted fares through the AARP.

Belonging to, or travelling with a group, may get you a better deal on airline reservations. If you are a member of a club or service association, check whether they have a travel plan. If travelling with a group, ask for a group discount. Discounts are often available for government, military or corporate employees. Often, airlines will even extend these discounts even for non-business travel.

In the case of large groups, it is sometimes cheaper to charter a plane than reserve individual seats. This may save time as well as money, since the charter airplane will accommodate your schedule, and baggage can be managed for the entire group, with much less chance of loss of luggage.

When you reach check-in at the airport, ask if any special upgrade deals are available.  Sometimes it is possible to upgrade to first class at a nominal fee, and this is definitely worth it on long flights due to the larger seats and extra leg room.

>12 Critical tips to saving on airport parking

>Off-site airport parking is a boon for travelers. Often they prove to be cheaper than parking lots run by airports and online discounts and other conveniences make the option even more attractive.

Satellite parking lots face competition and so it is easy for those in the know to save big.

Here are a few insights:

1.    Keep a tab on offers. As the race for success becomes intense, all sites run attractive offers giving away coupons or web only deals. Many offer an e-coupon that entitles the user to a day’s free parking at selected parking lots.   This means a saving of US$ 18. Other offers give away a day if you park for two days or 50% off on the first days parking fee.

2.    If you are a frequent user of parking lots check for offers where a parking operator with a major presence near airports you use offers a 50% discount if you purchase a certain number of parking vouchers online or on the phone using your credit card.

3.    Many parking sites have a different rate for different parking positions. Check on the kinds of parking and rate differences. You could save up to $ 55 for a seven day parking.

4.    Ask for rates depending on the length of stay. Rates vary so if you are going to need parking for a week then you could get a higher discount than the daily rate on offer.

5.    Many run a frequent user program where repeat customers are offered many facilities. This is similar to frequent flier programs.

6.    Find out if the lots you use offer special discounts to members of AARP, AAA, or other such organizations. In fact, AA members save between 10-20% on parking. Some sites even offer the service of picking up and dropping your car from the airport terminal.

7.    Do your research well compare providers, the rates on offer, as well as facilities at the place you need to park. If you are clever you can get more for less.

8.    Before you travel use the internet to check on daily and weekly parking offers. There are free days, discounted weekly rates, and guaranteed rates on offer at various times.  You can avail the offer by making a booking online or printing out the page with a code and presenting it to the cashier at the parking lot.
9.    Keep track of promotions especially during holiday seasons. Many lots accept coupons and give away discounts offered  by consumer products

10.    Often pre-booking parking can get you a saving of even 60% and more.

11.    Hotels often offer parking specials, so make use of the extra facility being offered by the hotel you plan to stay in.

12.    Some travel agents who book flight tickets offer advice or coupons for parking at the point of exit and entry. Ask you agent when you book your flight.

Off site parking is not just fast and convenient it can be a saving too.

>5 Top Tips to Get You Upgraded on Flights

>For many travellers, paying up to £5000 for a business class ticket in order to fly in greater comfort simply isn't an option. However, what very few people realise is that most airlines will upgrade passengers from economy class for free - if they meet certain guidelines. In this article, I will pass on some of the things that the check in staff look for and require so that you can take advantage of the loopholes and get your upgrade for free. These five top tips come direct from the check in staff of some of the best-known airlines, and are considered by many regular travellers to be the holy grail of getting something for nothing.

Tip Number 1:

Look the part. Make sure that you are dressed smartly when you travel. There is almost no chance of getting a free upgrade if you are wearing shorts and a scruffy t-shirt, so at the very least, check in wearing a shirt and pants. there is no need to go overboard and wear a suit - unless you really want to. The key is to look smart, but not like you're trying too hard.

Tip Number 2:

Turn up early. The check-in staff know exactly how many passengers are travelling on a particular flight well in advance, so if there are seats to spare in business class, they will know straight away.

Tip Number 3:

Be Polite. Put yourself in the place of the check in staff. Would you reward a person who gives you attitude and starts shouting the odds, or someone who is pleasant and gives them the time of day. There may be 250 people in the queue behind you, so make them remember you. Flirt, smile, use their name, be nice, and you may well get a pleasant surprise.

Tip Number 4:

Be a Frequent Flier. If you join an airline's frequent flier programme, you are far more likely to be at the front of the queue for an upgrade, as the airline will want to reward you for your loyalty. Even if you do not fly regularly, go to the airline's website and join their programme online. It will only take a minute or two, and is well worth the time.

Tip Number 5:

Ask. They say that if you don't ask for something, you won't get it, so make sure you do - but do it at the right time. If the check in staff look stressed, and no amount of charm has elicited a smile, don't bother to ask them, wait until you get to the gate. If the counter staff have responded well, when they ask you if you have any specific seat request, be cheeky and say "First Class" to them. It might just work.

>Mastering Digital SLR Cameras is Mastering Photography Itself

>There are a lot of amateur as well as professional camera users who are shifting to digital models for much ease, convenience, and efficiency when taking initial pictures, taking more pictures after deleting some, and finally sharing photos to friends or storing them into the computer’s memory.

Camera users are normally classified as hobbyists, novice, and professionals. To whichever category you belong, it is suggested that you ponder and accommodate the following basic information about digital cameras:

1.) Categories of a camera

Cameras can be grouped into:

a. ultra compact – no flash mode
b. prosumer or compact – for hobbyists
c. digital SLR cameras – have lenses, tripod, and external flashes; for professionals

If you want to master the art of photography, it is suggested that you master using the third category. Models that fall under this category are priced for their resolution, among other things.

2.) Mega pixels

Mega pixels can be classified into:

a. 3 mega pixels – for basic snapshots
b. between 3 and 5 mega pixels – images have good print quality
c. between 5 and 7 mega pixels – images can be easily manipulated; larger print sizes can be made

3.) Zoom

A camera’s zoom is normally categorized into two:

a. optical zoom factor – what is distant appears closer by magnifying the light entering through the main lens
b. digital zoom factor – magnifies the resulting image

Quality photographs depend mostly on the optical zoom factor.

4.) Storage media

These are the some common storage formats:

a. Compact Flash (for compact and DSLRs)
b. Sony Memory Stick (compatible with other Sony appliances)
c. Smart Media

Storage sizes normally range from 64 K, which can store 3 dozen mega pixel images; 1G can store about 500 images with the same mega pixels

5.) Carrying case

You should keep the camera and its accessories in place.

6.) Tripod

Tripod can be used when setting the timer mode on and keeping the focus stable.

7.) Lenses and Filters

There are digital cameras that allow additional lenses to be attached to the main lens, or the lenses can be completely interchangeable.

Lenses can be categorized as follows:

a. macro lens – allows you to get closer to objects like insects and flowers
b. wide-angle lens – used for capturing landmarks, and large and wide sceneries
c. telephoto lens – allows longer zooms that let you get close to objects that are rather unsafe

Filters, on the other hand are used to:

a. soften the effect of the image
b. provide blurring on the edges for portraits that have sensitive moods
c. add light flares for the image to be more dramatic
d. to reduce glare so that pictures appear more saturated, crisp, and vivid.

Here are some basic strategies on how to capture an image:

1. Holding the camera

You should hold the camera steadily and keep your spare fingers from interfering with the lens. This skill usually takes a few practices.

2.) Focusing

To keep the camera from shuddering, it is better to half-press the camera until you are able to lock your view on the focus before completely pressing the button of the shutter.

You may also use a tripod for better focusing.

3.) Previewing

Take and retake pictures if necessary after previewing them in your LCD screen.

4.) Archiving

Keep an album of your best photographs so that you can refer to them as you keep on working your way to being great photographers.
Once you have mastered using your simple compact and especially digitals SLR cameras, you can surely capture photos using other cameras with great ease and perfection. That is a guarantee!

>Macro Digital Photography: Some Concerns

>We have always found that looking at objects from another perspective is fascinating. This is because of the fact that we often discover new things just by looking at a familiar object from a different angle or focus. This might be the reason for people's fascination with digital macro photography.

Digital macro photography is an art. There's no question about that. It takes the genius of an artist to take something so ordinary and something so dismissible and turn it into something that just captures an aspect of life. For that is what art is. No art ever claimed to contain all the truths of life. Art is a reflection of the world through the eyes of the artist. By looking at a piece of art such as digital macro photography, we get to share the perspective of other people and that can be a very powerful connection.

Another thing about digital macro photography you should know is that it is not easy. You need to consider a lot of factors in order to produce great photographs. What are these factors?

1) Skills – do you actually have the skills necessary for digital macro photography? Do you have the eye for beauty that would be appreciated by people who view your photographs? That's not all you need. You also need to have a steady hand. While taking digital macro photographs, even barely noticeable movements of the hand can ruin your picture.

You need to have the skills to use a camera properly. You need to be able to adjust the camera in order to take the picture that you truly want to appear. Sure, you can actually edit a digital macro photograph using the computer, but why should you give yourself more work than necessary?

Some people have the necessary skills naturally. However, it is still important to hone these skills by taking classes or attending workshops. Remember that digital macro photography is all about showing things in different ways. Because of this, you need to accept the fact that other people may see your work differently from the way you see it. A fresh eye never hurts.

2) Equipment – you also need the proper tools in order to express your talent. The proper tools can help you a lot if you want to achieve the effect that you want. Remember that although there are tools today that claim to be usable for any type of photography, you should try to find equipment that's specially made for digital macro photography. This is because such equipment can definitely bring out the best in your skills.

The right equipment is essential because digital macro photography needs a lot of work in order to be perfect. If you have the right tools for digital macro photography, you will be able to achieve your goals and show your pictures the way that you want them to be seen.
3) Subject – everything is interesting when viewed in different ways. However, some subjects are more interesting than others. Some objects, when you choose them as subjects of digital macro photography, manage to amaze you with the amount of things you do not know about them. Great subjects of digital macro photography reveal worlds beyond what you can see with the naked eye. So choose your subjects wisely.

>Understanding Digital Photography: Techniques in Getting a Great Picture

>Have you heard of, “There is more than meets the eye?”

We use our eyes to view things in our environment. However, through time, man has devised ways on how to preserve the things normally seen and thus treasured, whether these are beautiful or not, and one of which is by using cameras.

The images that are captured by cameras can make our eyes see things that have happened before. Moreover, it enables the heart to wish for beautiful things to happen in the future.

These days, the biggest sellers in the camera market are the so-called digital SLR cameras. These are the modern gadgets that can trigger our creativity and seats of emotion.

Though relatively new, most people choose digital SLRs because it can be easily manipulated. However, having these cameras does not completely guarantee that the every captured image is great and perfect.

Following are some point by point guidelines that should be considered to maximize the expense of your digital cameras:

1.    Simplicity

Zoom in to capture the part you want to emphasize. Thus, irrelevant objects or areas can be taken away or just allow them to soften.

2.    Rule of thirds

When capturing a moving object, it is advisable to capture them moving into the imaginary tic-tac-toe frame from one of the two sides.

3.    Shapes and lines

Capture a straight line at an angle by moving five to ten feet away to the side to capture at an angle.

4.    Vantage point

To add significance or emphasis to an object, take a picture at a lower vantage point. Increasing the height away from the object can reduce its significance.

5.    Balance

Pick out the dominant objects and arrange them so that they complement each other. However, unbalanced or asymmetrical objects are often more visually stimulating than balanced objects.

6.    Framing

You can use the frames of your windows to capture an outdoor scene. You can also use doors and walls of a building to capture a person a walking person.

7.    Indoor photographs

You can use natural lighting when you are taking candid shots so that the subjects will not be bothered by the flash coming out of the camera.

8.    Camera adjustments

The aperture allows light to enter. You must learn how to adjust this properly and appropriately so that images will not appear as either very bright or very dim.

Lowering the shutter speed allows the image to be more exposed to light. You must learn the proper length of exposure so that images will not appear as blurry.

9.    ISO speeds

Digital cameras have ISO speeds ranging from 100 to 800. The higher the ISO, the higher the camera’s sensitivity to light’s exposure. Be sure to master using this element along with the camera’s aperture and shutter speeds.

10.     Lens/Filters

However, if you still want to improve on the images that you have taken, the following list of software can allow touch-ups:

•    Adobe Photoshop
•    Apple’s iPhoto
•    Corel Paint Shop Pro
•    Google Picasa
•    LView

Once you have understood and mastered the important points on digital photography and capturing pictures, you will soon realize that the keys in getting great pictures are: “Even a simple aim and shoot camera” and “Creative ME.”

>The Greatness of Digital Photography

>Photography encompasses several issues that one should take into consideration to understand its substance. The term "photography" has several meanings depending on how it is perceived by the people. Generally speaking, it is the art of taking pictures by means of light. Light is the most important ingredient in photography. It is the one responsible for identifying color and brightness.

When digital technology came into being, different advancements were developed. These advancements were very helpful in bringing utmost convenience to people's way of life. The majority of the innovations that were developed have brought tremendous improvements in photography. This greatest breakthrough is known as digital photography.

Digital photography is quite a complex topic to discuss since many things should be considered in order for one to get a vivid picture of it. But one of the basics that you should remember about digital photography is that it doesn't use film and there's no processing time involved with it.  This type of photography offers convenience to people when it comes to editing and enhancing images. Not only does it offer customer satisfaction but it offers easy on the pocket photo printing solutions to people. This is mainly because digital photos cost less compared to conventional photos.

There are many advantages why you should turn to digital when you want a picture-perfect shot. Digital photography offers you many options on how you want your pictures to appear. You have the choice to print only the good photos that you have and edit out those that you don't like. You're also able to steer clear of bad images such as blurry prints and those that easily fade. This way you can save a bundle on printing only those pictures that are pleasing to the eye. You can even upload the images and share it with your loved ones. There are so many options that are available.

The quality of digital photography is said to be much more remarkable compared to the traditional type. In fact there are more and more digital photography innovations that were developed today. These innovations are designed to make digital photo prints that can last long without the fear of fading or yellowing. Another thing is that there are lots of budget-friendly options that you can enjoy with digital photos.

The difference of digital to classic photography lies on the way the image is generated. In the traditional form, the image is produced using film while in digital wave, the image is digitally captured. In the traditional method, the image that is captured on the film is developed in a darkroom where chemicals are used to create negatives. The negative are then printed before you can view the final product of the shot. In digital approach, there's no need for film, dark room and processing because the image is captured digitally, that is by means of electronic sensor.

Hence with digital cameras around, there is no need to use film in order to develop your best picture. A digital camera allows you to edit and delete photos. This is done cost effectively, which means no hassle in printing and less cost in the production.

>Custom Built Boats

>Almost all boats are constructed on a production
basis, as this is the most efficient means of
production.  There's only one set of molds and many
boats being built from the mold, reducing the cost
of tooling per boat.  Normally, there are a limited
number of options to make assembly line production
more efficient in terms of cost.

Leaving the ranks of production boats, there are
several types of custom construction.  There are
many boats built with a limited budget, which is
normally by amateurs.  If you don't want to build
the boat yourself, the next level available is
what sailors call "semi custom" boats.

These semi customs are normally built by small or
mid sized shops out of one set of molds so the
hull and decks could end up being identical.  The
builders will however, allow the owner to pick
out the interior and other options.

The true custom built boat, or one of a kind boat,
is specifically designed and built from scratch
for a single customer with an unlimited budget.  A
true custom boat is a one on one project, and
can get very expensive before you know it.

Before you decide to go out and buy a custom boat,
you should give the used market another look.  Those
who have built custom or even semi custom boats
in the past do put them on the market for sale at
some point or another.

This is a much less expensive way to go, simply
because you won't be paying a professional to design
the boat from scratch.  You can find used boats that
offer one of kind features and options, all you have
to do is look around.

>The True Benefits Of Selecting A Custom Lanyard For Your Boating Needs

>If you are new to the world of boating, you likely are only now beginning to learn some of the more basic terms associated with the sport. For example, “lanyard” may be a term that is new to you. On the other hand, if you are an old salt, you perfectly understand how important the lanyard is when it comes to sailing. Indeed, you likely have gone so far as to buy a custom lanyard on at least one occasion.

For those of you who are new to the sport of sailing, a lanyard or a custom lanyard actually is an easy piece of gear to understand. A lanyard or a custom lanyard is a flexible line of rope. A lanyard can be made out of a number of different elements, including regular rope, coated rope, or wire rope. Additionally, a lanyard or custom lanyard can come in the form of something as a basic as a strap.

As mentioned a moment ago, a lanyard or custom lanyard is capable of a wide array of uses. A lanyard is one of the most versatile pieces of gear that a person can find on any boat. A lanyard or custom lanyard can be used for everything from connecting up a lifeline to preparing and setting an anchor. In point of fact, no boat should ever be without a lanyard or custom lanyard -- indeed no boat should ever be out multiple versions of the lanyard or custom lanyard.

If you truly are interested in obtaining the best possible equipment for your boat, and if you are equally committed to ensuring that your gear and equipment functions to peak efficiency, you may want to consider ordering custom lanyard products. There are many benefits to ordering custom lanyard products. Of course, you will end up spending a bit more at the outset when you do purchase custom lanyard products. However, most boat owners believe that the purchase of custom lanyard products is an investment that pays off in the long run.

The primary benefit of ordering a custom lanyard is that you will obtain a lanyard specifically suited to a particular task or job. You will have a lanyard that is specifically designed to work with a particular piece of equipment. Naturally, with a custom lanyard you will have a lanyard that is best suited for a particular task or for a particular piece of equipment -- because it has been designed to undertake a particular task or with a particular piece of boating equipment.

In addition, the custom lanyard is likely to be more durable than standard, off the rack fare. A custom lanyard has been designed with you in mind, with your needs in mind. Thus, it is more than likely that the person or company that handcrafts your custom lanyard is going to make certain that you are provided with a durable and reliable product. In the end, that person’s or company’s reputation depends upon giving you a top quality custom lanyard.

>The History of Kayaks

>Canoeing and Kayaking go back to the dawn of human culture. The word "kayak" literally means "hunter's boat." The kayak was useful for transport, but it was a miraculous hunting tool, facilitating a quiet approach towards one's desired prey. The covered deck of the kayak made it more sea-worthy and better able to shed waves than the traditional canoe. Kayaks are mostly used during summer months, primarily for hunting and fishing.

Similar to the kayak, the umiak is a larger boat which can carry up to 20 people. The umiak and the kayak existed side by side, both finding useful niches for transporting and hunting throughout history.

Kayak design varied according to the specific needs of inhabitants of particular regions. For instance, early kayaks designed by inhabitants surrounding the Bering Straight were wider and shorter. Whereas the kayaks from Greenland were sleek and low. Kayaks from Baffin Island were wider and longer.

The kayak was first created by the Inuit, an artic people. Interestingly, despite being the birth place of the kayak, very little archaeological evidence of the covered kayak can be found on the Siberian Coast.

Early Eskimos made kayak frames using driftwood, and early kayaks were wrapped in sealskins.

In fact, most early kayaks were fabricated using wood for the frame and then tied together using sinew, or tendons, with a seal skin cover. Kayaks were virtually unsinkable with air-filled seal bladders. Today, very few traditional skin kayaks are still in use and the knowledge of their construction is quickly fading. Other early kayaks were made from whalebone or driftwood.

The materials that have been used to make a kayak have changed significantly with the years. Europeans eventually discovered the versatility of the kayak, and kayaks once designed with sealskins were designed by Europeans with fabric covers. This method continued until the 1950's when a company known as Valley Products began producing the first fiberglass kayak. Then in 1984, the first plastic kayak was introduced. Kayaks continue to become lighter, sturdier, and more versatile.

Now there are several types of kayaks designed with various materials suitable for a variety of sporting events. Today, kayaking is accessible to all skill levels, providing a quiet and gas-free form of breathtaking travel, exploration and exercise.

>Easy Guide to Buy Digital Camcorders and DVD Camcorders

>A camcorder is a portmanteau word made by combining 'Camera' and 'recorder'. A camcorder is a portable television camera and videocassette recorder. It is an electronic device for recording video images and audio onto a storage device. It contains both camera and recorder in one unit. The camcorders generally contain digital cameras. A camcorder having digital camera or digital technology is known as digital camcorder. A camcorder having dvd facility is dvd camcorder. A camcorder is powered with a camcorder battery.

Sony introduced the first camcorder in 1983, followed by Kodak in 1984. The first camcorders combined the video-camera with an existing full-size VHS/Betamax recorder. These camcorders were large devices that required a sturdy tripod or strong shoulders to stably support the camera's bulk. The majority of these were designed for right-handed operation, except a few that possessed ambidextrous ergonomics.

Sony introduced the first HandyCam camcorder in 1984. The HandyCam could be held and operated entirely within the palm of the operator's hand, made possible by the 8mm video format.

The lens, imager, and recorder are the three major components of a camcorder. The lens gathers and focuses light on the imager. The imager (usually a CCD (charge-coupled device) or CMOS sensor IC on modern camcorders; earlier examples often used vidicon tubes) converts incident light into an electrical (video) signal. Finally, the recorder encodes the video signal into a storable form. The optics and imager are commonly referred to as the camera section.

The recent times are witnessing a great revolution in the camcorders. The camcorders with ultra modern technology are in the market. The mainstream consumer market favors ease of use, portable cheap camcorders and discount camcorders.

There is a great number of websites offering bulks of info on camcorders, cheap camcorders and discount camcorders. There are numerous online sources offers camcorder articles & blogs, camcorder review, digital camcorder review, sony camcorder review, canon camcorder review, sharp camcorder review, kodak camcorder review etc. The guys planning to buy camcorder must go through these reviews and articles, before buying a camcorder.

>Digital Video Recorder

>The unbelievable advances that have taken place in the technological world over the past few decades are certainly a thing of wonder to behold. Most of us have already forgotten how we coped without the many technologically based gadgets we have come to take for granted, such as microwave ovens, personal computers and cell phones. And while these advances have enriched our personal lives for the better in many ways, it is not only our domestic lives that have improved as a result of these technological developments. In many different ways, technology has been used to make a variety of professional situations more efficient and effective. Not least of the many examples of this phenomenon is the use of digital video recorders by police departments and other security personnel.

There’s probably not a one among us that would deny that our police officers have a difficult job to do. With rising crime rates, it seems that they need eyes at the back of their heads in order to protect the communities they have sworn to serve. But thankfully, developments in technology have been successfully used to make their jobs a little easier, and to help keep us a great deal safer.

Digital video recorders are increasingly used in the stead of the their analog counterparts to monitor the goings on at all kinds of locations. From stores to police interview rooms, these devices are a more cost effective and efficient way to record the happenings in a variety of locations. With clearer, more detailed pictures, and the ability to record audio, digital video recorders are helping law enforcers more reliably identify and track down criminals.

There is a time honored question that asks who will police the police, and digital vide recorders are helping to address this important aspect of law enforcement also. To ensure the honorable behavior of its officers at all times, in 2003 the Yakima, Washington Police Department installed digital video recorders to allow them monitor the conduct of both officers and suspects. The success of this program has lead many other departments across the country to follow suit, helping to ensure that law enforcement is always carried out fairly.

Technology is undoubtedly a wonderful thing that enhances our lives in a multitude of ways. But it is possibly used to its very best advantage when it not only makes our lives easier, but helps keep us safer too.
